“You seem familiar enough,” he said to the slope.
To his dismay the view had somewhat changed.
Quite a bit to figure out, but he did have hope,
though most of the footpaths and lights were rearranged,
and folks he’d known before were now estranged.
At once he felt there was simply too much to do –
too much he would have to forget or keep in mind,
too many toys demanded by his crew.
As much as he had lost, there was that much to find:
the latest devices to measure slack and speed,
a template to map out the hero’s plight,
some cyber-aesthetoscope to prism delight…
not to mention the list of things he wouldn’t need!
Yes, it seemed as if it took him ages
before he stumbled upon the next few pages.
