You’re probably hoping to learn something from me.
I’m hoping to get something out of you.
So if, perhaps, you have the time and energy
to bear with me through another stanza or two,
I’ll tell you all some things you might not know.
We’ll sit for coffee in a place you’d never go.
The walls are mounted with horns and antique trumpets,
dizzying landscapes awaiting Columbus.
You first. Tell me, why do you spend your days and hours
pursuing the god-like technique of Horowitz?
Today there are other entertainments.
And you. There’s something I should say. Now don’t get sour.
You seem to me to be living on borrowed wits.
And you. You call that art? It’s painted tents.
They’re obstructing my view. Get them off of the tower.
