- for my brother, Jeff -
Finally, it’s getting its belated share of
critical attention – the Pooh Era,
with its legacy of civil war and famine,
a period long excluded from the canon
which we’re just now becoming aware of.
It began with a ban on significant looks.
Pooh, one of history’s greatest despots and crooks,
made hopping about a capital crime,
punishable through the harshest code of the time,
under which offenders were suspended from hooks.
It’s an era that for long was slighted;
a lack of primary texts is often cited.
In attempts to have our chronology flattened,
some have maintained that it never happened
and shift about to have the maligned Pooh righted.
