In an effort to win their hearts we’ll write the play
and, with it, make a stab at current taste.
You can think of it as an oddly fitting way
to gather your greatest prodigies in one place.
It’s all set up – just type at the cursor.
We’ll work on revisions after the curtain calls.
Make sure the speeches are properly rehearsed, for
heads will droop if the delivery stalls.
And don’t forget to include soliloquies fit
to apostrophize the firmament’s every flaw,
asides whereby they’ll remember your wit,
and a series of puns to pass from jaw to jaw.
The story will come to you through your dreams and prayers.
You can let your friends serve as the players.
If nothing else, then at least you’ll command their awe.
